I didn’t even consider that Kyrgyzstan was prone to earthquakes when I decided to move here. I don’t know if that would have changed my mind, but a lot of rumors (and some legitimate warnings) seem to be floating around now that “the big one” will strike in the next year or so.
There was another earthquake this morning, 5.4 magnitude, originating in southeastern Kazakhstan. It felt the same to me as the last one, as in, a slight and extended swaying.
It wasn’t big enough to wake a sleeping Mamajan.

This makes me think I should set up an earthquake counter in my sidebar. We’re up to three already that I’ve felt since I moved to Bishkek.

Forget the earthquake counter – how about an emergency kit?
Yeah, could be a good idea. Although, so far they’ve been too small in Bishkek to do any damage at all (Farrell hasn’t felt any of them yet), but if “the big one” strikes at the magnitude they’re predicting… i don’t think an emergency kit would help much. Bishkek does not seem like an earthquake-prepared place.
