It’s nights like these that make me wish I was Jewish.
The wonderful Yael was the gracious host for a Shabbat dinner last week. She cooked for twenty people. Twenty! A giant, juicy brisket. A trillion loaves of challah. More varieties of fresh summer salads than I thought was humanly possible to consume in one night.
Vodka watermelon…is that kosher?
Twenty people. Real estate is a touchy subject in DC; it’s expensive and rare in comfortable doses. Yael’s apartment boasts a lot of floor space (a palace compared to my shoebox apartment) but we had to get creative with seating.
mmm…ambiance.
It turned into a Shabbat picnic. We learned Jewish camp songs, played games, met new friends and caught up with old ones.
Shabbat shalom, hey!
